FLAX BOURTON CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

               SCHOOL ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE MEMBERS

A new committee was formed in December 2001, involving brand new and established committee members. We have a great mine of skills, experience, and have parents with children from most of the school years, which will stand us in excellent stead to achieve our goals. The committee presently stands with eleven people.

On the social side we also organise Mums Night's Out and have in the recent past been to the theatre, a comedy night, Chinese and Greek meals.

The Committee introduce themselves below.

Tracey Dodds

Chairperson

Like many mothers, I am busy with the combined responsibility of work and raising my two children - Maisie in Year 5 and Florrie in Year 1. I give as little or as much time to the PTA as I can and have been a member since September 2000.  Everyone is very flexible and I have found that even the smallest contribution or idea from parents is always valued.  It is fantastic to see how much can be achieved by the PTA at such a small school and always to the benefit of our children

Sarah Weavers
Treasurer

I have two children at the school, and been the chairperson of the association for the past two years before moving back to being treasurer. I hope to continue my trademark of endless energy and 100% commitment to the School Association (as well as an endless supply of cakes and confectionery!).
Louise Buck
Secretary

I have been on the PTA since July 2003. Shortly after my eldest daughter started in reception. I am kept busy as a full-time mum to my two daughters and working part-time updating client accounts for my fathers accounting practice. Since joining the PTA it has been rewarding to see how even a minimal amount of effort makes a big difference to a small school and the benefits the children receive.

Allison Rowlands
My two children Ryan and Lana joined the school in January 2005, shortly after I became an SMSA (dinner lady). I help with RED club once a week and school trips when needed.  I witnessed what a fantastic job the PTA did at the summer fayre and how much the children enjoyed themselves. I feel honoured to be a member of the PTA and will do my best to help raise money for the benefit of all our children.

Lisa Oddy
My name is Lisa Oddy and I live in the village of Flax Bourton. I am married to Jonathan and we have two children. Our son is called Thomas who is currently in reception and our daughter Jasmine starts this September. I have worked as a part time Law and French teacher at the City of Bristol College for the past nine years but am currently on a career break. I decided to join the PTA to get to know the school, parents and teachers of Flax Bourton Primary School.

Lisa Parker

We have recently moved into the area with 2 young children.  Katie started in reception this term and settled really well.  It will be the first time I have been involved with a PTA and I am looking forward to making a contribution, however small it may be.  I also decided it would be a great way to get to know the people who will be playing such an important in my daughters' lives.

Julia Edwards

Mum of two, wrong side of forty! Lauren in year 6 [scary!] and Sam in year 4. Have been a member of PTA for a number of years on and off and quite missed it when not involved [odd I know!] Just genuinely happy to help and donate.

Claire Merrick

I confess to having avoided the PTA when we first joined the school in Sept 2005 (Sam, now in Year 2, Rebecca in Reception). I thought you needed to be a supermum or be very good at baking cakes to be part of the PTA and I am neither.

The reality couldn’t be more different. I joined the PTA in 2006 and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team ever since.

Whatever you are good at, Flax Bourton School PTA, will find something for you to do that is fun and rewarding. The PTA enables parents (though we are currently very short on Dad’s) to make a real contribution to their children’s school. Can’t say fairer than that. I ask companies and individuals to make cash or goods donations to the school by the way, now that’s something I can do.
