Flax Bourton is a Church of England school with close links with the village church and community.

The School has a long and interesting history. It was opened in the original building on 27th September 1859 as an all age group school catering for children aged between five and fourteen. (We have log books dating back to 1863 - click here to read some entries).

In 1947 it became a Voluntary Controlled Infants Schools, run by Somerset Education Committee.

It finally became a Primary School and has now been taken over by North Somerset District Council.

At this time the meadow in Station Road was purchased and since 1992 all children have been accommodated on the one site.

In 1996 the new sports/dining hall was built in order to replace the original building. The new hall was finished on the 1st September and was dedicated by the Bishop of Bath and Wells on 18th October 1996. It is the first phase of a purpose built replacement school on the Meadow Site.

In 2004 the second phase was completed with new classrooms for key stage 2, a library and an ICT suite. This was dedicated by the Bishop of Bath and Wells on 28th April 2004.
