Noscars 2007
THE NOSCARS 2007
The
first “NOSCARS” film festival awards was hosted by the ICT Strategy
Team in the Children & Young People’s Services and held on Thursday
20 September 2007 at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare. There was
an audience of 300 people including children, teachers, parents, Colin
Diamond, Director of Children & Young People’s Services and
Councillor Jeremy Blatchford, Executive Member for Children & Young
People’s Services, who came to see young film makers from across North
Somerset showcase their work.
The competition was open to primary and special schools with a theme of the environment, where schools were asked to submit a two minute film clip using still, moving or animated imagery supporting embedding ICT in the curriculum. All entries were produced by the children demonstrating effective use of technology. Film making promotes creativity, communication, teamwork, planning, problem solving and critical thinking.
The judging panel was made up of Councillor Carl Francis-Pester; Suzie Cowley, South West Grid for Learning; David Collins, Nailsea School and Liz Higgins from AT Computers Ltd.
